Workplaces are facing constant change, pressure and uncertainty. Resilience training helps people not just cope — but adapt, learn, and recover more effectively when things don’t go to plan.

Our resilience training focuses on practical, evidence-based tools that help individuals build emotional resilience, improve change agility, and strengthen a growth mindset — without pretending stress or adversity doesn’t exist.

This course is suitable for employees, leaders and teams navigating ongoing change, workload pressure, or challenging work environments. It makes a great addition to any workplace wellbeing programme.

Why resilience matters in the NZ workplace

Resilience is a muscle that must be worked on to be effective

Resilience is not about being tough, stoic, or pushing through at all costs. It’s about how people respond to pressure, setbacks and change over time.

In New Zealand workplaces, ongoing change, restructuring, high workloads and uncertainty can lead to:

  • Reduced energy and morale

  • Increased stress and disengagement

  • Poor responses to change

  • Burnout and turnover

Resilience training helps people understand how stress, mindset, personality and beliefs influence behaviour, and how to build practical strategies to adapt and recover more effectively.

What you'll gain from building your resilience

Developing resilience isn’t about eliminating stress — it’s about improving how you think, respond and recover when pressure shows up.

Participants who apply the tools from this resilience training workshop often experience:

Greater confidence during change

You’ll feel more capable of navigating uncertainty and adapting when things shift or don’t go to plan.

Improved emotional regulation

You’ll be better able to manage strong emotions, stay grounded under pressure, and respond thoughtfully rather than reactively.

Stronger problem-solving mindset

Resilience supports clearer thinking, helping you focus on solutions rather than becoming stuck in setbacks.

Increased energy and motivation

By reducing ongoing emotional drain, people often experience renewed motivation and engagement at work.

A more positive, realistic outlook

You’ll learn how to challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and build a more constructive internal dialogue.

By the end of this resilience training, you will be able to:

  • Understand their own resilience strengths and pressure points

  • Recognise how mindset and beliefs influence behaviour

  • Respond more constructively to change and setbacks

  • Use practical tools to manage stress and uncertainty

  • Build habits that support sustainable performance and wellbeing

Course FAQ's - Resilience Skills

What is resilience training?

Resilience training helps people develop the skills, mindset and behaviours needed to adapt to pressure, setbacks and change, and to recover more effectively after difficult experiences.

Resilience is important in the New Zealand workplace because ongoing change, workload pressure, and uncertainty can impact wellbeing, performance, and retention. Resilience helps people adapt to change, recover from setbacks, maintain perspective under pressure, and sustain performance over time, particularly during periods of organisational change. Resilience training can get employees on the road to coping better with change and uncertainty.

Yes. This course is designed specifically for New Zealanders, reflecting local work environments, expectations, and societal pressures. It focuses on practical strategies that people can apply immediately at work and in their personal life. Our training is designed by us, not purchased from overseas. We know kiwi workplaces and have designed this training with that in mind.

No. Research shows that resilience is a skill that can be developed over time. While personality plays a role, behaviours, mindset and coping strategies can all be learned and strengthened.

Stress management focuses on coping with pressure. Resilience focuses on adapting, learning and recovering when pressure or change occurs. The two courses complement each other and are often delivered together.

This course is suitable for:

  • Employees navigating ongoing change or uncertainty

  • Leaders supporting teams through pressure or transition

  • People in fast-paced or demanding roles

  • Teams experiencing change, growth or restructuring

  • Anyone who wants to build their resilience before in preparation for future stressful life events.

No. This course focuses on realistic, evidence-based approaches to mindset, behaviour and coping. It’s not about ignoring challenges or pretending everything is fine.

Yes. Resilience training helps people understand common responses to change and build strategies to maintain energy, motivation and perspective during ongoing change.

Absolutely. We deliver in-house Stress Management workshops across Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. This is often the most effective way to improve “collective wellbeing” and makes a great addition to any workplace wellbeing programme.

Workshops usually run in the morning, starting around 9am. After the workshop you should be prepared to commit to 2-3 hours to use what you’ve learned to put your systems in place. Ideally you would have the whole day blocked out so that you can do this straight after the workshop. Then, on your first day back at work after the workshop, you can start building out your personal resilience building plan straight away.

You will need to have a laptop or computer with webcam and microphone. Headphones are recommended if you are attending at work or there are going to be other people around you. This is important because in our time management training workshops, we like to simulate the classroom as much as we can. By being able to see each other and talk to each other, the learning process is enriched and you will get more value from the training. You may also need to download software that allows you to connect to the classroom. We recommend that this is arranged with your workplace, or sorted on your home equipment well in advance of the workshop so you are up and running on the day.

Resilience training can be delivered in person or virtually, depending on your needs and location within New Zealand.

Yes. The session is interactive and reflective, with practical exercises and opportunities to apply learning to real situations in a psychologically safe way.
